The basic relation in photoelasticity / G. Z. Sharafutdinov. //Vestnik Moskovskogo Universiteta. Seriya 1. Matematika. Mekhanika. 2012. № 1. P. 38-41 [Moscow Univ. Math. Bulletin. Vol. 67, N 1, 2012.].
The polarization-optical method is used to study stresses and to fix the optical quantities (the orders of isochromatic fringes and the isoclinic parameters) and the mechanical quantities (stresses and strains). The dependencies between these quantities are considered. The problem of disk compression along its diameter is solved exactly. These dependencies are analyzed on the basis of this exact solution and the experimental data. The most preferred form to express the basic law of photoelasticity is discussed.
Key words: photoelasticity method, path difference, isochromatic fringes, isoclinic line, stresses, strains, relations between the optical and mechanical quantities.
