Contamination of a Porous Bed by a Moving Front with a Finite Porosity Jump / N.E. Leont'ev // Vestn. Mosk. Univ., Matem. Mekhan. 2009. № 5. P. 75-80 [Moscow Univ. Mech. Bulletin. Vol. 64, No 5, 2009. P. 130-134]
The clogging of a porous bed in the course of particulate suspension flow is investigated. Within the framework of a hyperbolic model allowing for large variations of porosity, exact solutions are given to the problem with finite porosity jump at the leading edge of the clogging front in the case of flows with plane and cylindrical waves. The solutions explain the known fact of particle front retardation by comparison with the leading edge of carrier liquid. This retardation is connected with the finiteness of porosity jump at the front and can be used for experimental determining the governing parameters of the model. The existence of solutions with several jumps is demonstrated.
